Everything was just so. It was a chilly fall afternoon and Mr. Baxlin stared out his window. He watched the street carefully, ever watchful for anything strange. He knew that nothing would happen, but he wanted to make sure that everything would go normally. He pulled the blanket closer to his old, 89 year old self and stared out the window. He watched people go by quickly. All of them were rushing by, none of them stopping to watch the crisp autumn leaves float down, or to calmly watch the chickadee's as they huddled together in a small thorny tree. It was a wet autumn morning as Leigh peered out her window. She stared at the row of silent grim houses in which she lived. Each one looked the same. Dark, dismal and mysterious. They were squat brown houses made of brick. They may have looked better if there was ivy climbing up their walls but, Leigh thought, if any ivy did grow on them it would die in a week. Every window of the houses had the shutters closed tight. All the time. Never had Leigh looked out her window to see a cheery neigbor waving at her, or young kids playing. It was the same depressing view. Even looking at those houses would drain you until you were as dismal

Dear Alexis,

I don't really know how to tell you this, but I'm in love with your cat. I think I realized it when I saw the purple monkey outside of your office and I saw you knock out my father. I'm sure you're scarred enough to understand that your Ford sucks. I'm returning your toe ring to you, but I'll keep your collection of butterflies as a memory.
